In my gathering

Where I fit in the Church As I Gather

Acts 2:42-47

Matthew 18:18-20

Hebrews 10:23-25

Acts 2: 42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer.

43 Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and signs were being performed through the apostles. 44 Now all the believers were together and held all things in common. 45 They sold their possessions and property and distributed the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with joyful and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. Every day the Lord added to their number[l] those who were being saved.

Matthew 18: 18 Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will have been bound[k] in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will have been loosed[l] in heaven. 19 Again, truly I tell you, if two of you on earth agree about any matter that you[m] pray for, it will be done for you[n] by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there among them.”

Matthew 18:18-20 is in a section where Jesus is teaching about correcting and restoring a brother or sister, and by the time we get to this many people the person has been brought before the church.

18 Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will have been bound[k] in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will have been loosed[l] in heaven. 19 Again, truly I tell you, if two of you on earth agree about any matter that you[m] pray for, it will be done for you[n] by my Father in heaven

20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there among them.”

Hebrews 10:

19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have boldness to enter the sanctuary through the blood of Jesus— 20 he has inaugurated[e] for us a new and living way through the curtain (that is, through his flesh)— 21 and since we have a great high priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water. 23 Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, since he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us watch out for one another to provoke love and good works, 25 not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.

24 And let us watch out for one another to provoke love and good works, 25 not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.
